HELLO EVERYONE!

The first bimontlhy period’s over, here we go!

As you know, this blog is the way we're using to monitor the in-service programme this semester. Therefore this is the tool I'll be using to monitor and assess your work with readers.

Now, returning to your work with readers:

This time we’ll look at it

FROM STUDENT’S POINT OF VIEW .

That means you’ll be required to share

your students’ views on the this kind of reading,

and also their productions: texts, videos, sketches,

pppresentations,etc.

As for their views(testimonials)you can post them here.(see link for posts right after my text).

Concerning your students' productions you can comment on them here and in order to deliver them to me you may choose from three different options:

-as for films you can send the link to me via e-mail.

-for pppresentations you can attach them to an e-mail to me.

- for the written productions you'll find a folder on my table where you

can leave them.

Next Friday Lidia Vanessa we'll be sharing very interesting news from Macmilan.(Prizes for students and for teachers as well)

Looking forward to having you and your students here,

AnaMaria

PS:the deadline for our readers' project is June23rd.which means all student's projects should have been finished by then.

Looking forward to having you here,

AnaMaria

I'm sure you'll have a lot to share

Reader's Project

Hi everyone,

So, how about Beth's session on readers last Friday?
I found it really 'rich': full of interesting and simple ideas for us to implement.

Well, as I've already mentioned ,this blog is going to replace ,for most of you, the lesson observation scheme this semester.Besides, the readers project is the second project for this term as we'll have some other issues to develop. So, you'll be monitored via your comments on this blog!

I'm pasting here, some links we were presented to last Friday; I liked Sirley's ideas very much(but I haven't visited all the others) you can also use the 'hard-papers' folders and catalogues Natália and Beth showed us .
PLEASE, COMMENT HERE ON YOUR CHOICES AND IDEAS.
Cheers,
AM

  1. Hi Ana!

Our blog is amazing! I'm so happy to be a part of it!

As for my approach to readers, I'd like to share with you what I've done so far:

    Elementary groups (K12 and 1.3):

1- Judging the book by the cover: I've displayed some blurbs on the wall and SS were asked to read it and match them with the books (displayed on the floor).
The aim of this activity was to raise SS interest in reading.
2 - Onion formation: SS stood up in onion formation (two circles) and were asked to tell each other about the books they've read.
3 - K12: SS have been asked to read books and make posters with a drawing related to the story they've read and also giving their opinion about it.
4 - K12 - SS have also been asked to post comments on their blog.

    Intermediate group (33):

The following activity was suggested by Adriano. SS have been asked to read books and prepare a powerpoint presentation exposing their opinion about the book and new words or expressions they've learnt.

    That's all for now.

    Cheers,
    Diana

  2. Hi everyone...

I got thrilled when I saw your moodle blog this afternoon!!! You won't believe my words but Ana, Lidia and Eliz are far ahead lots of people in the world!!!Congratulations!!!

I've just heard about moodles right now doing my DELTA. All my homework, presentation and even material to study is posted on a blog like that. I mean, we do all the hard work and even connect with our project groups via moodle during the week and on Fridays we meet up and discuss important issues for the test and the assignments!!!

Cultura is really a 1st world school in all senses. Hooray!!!

Do let me know if you need any help with ideas for your lessons and also for your blog. I still feel as if I'm part of this wonderful life's treasure!!!

    Miss you all...

    Xoxo,

    Flavia - Istanbul, TR

  3. Dear Ana and all;

As usual, your work is fantastic!

Not only does your blog show one of the great projects you have been carrying out, but it also sets forth the fundamental importance of using technology to establish -and to keep- links with professionals with shared interests.

After being a F2F teacher for over twenty years, I have taken the challenge of e-tutoring - Currently I am of the e-tutors in the British Council/Senai e-English course for teachers. I have to say it has been a fascinating experience! The course is set on the Moodle platform, and it has strengthened my belief that using appropriate technology does allow students and teachers to engage in active learning, and to develop in a more democratic way.

We all know that nowadays there is a vast array of technologies that can be used in learning/teaching situations. We should, therefore, always be in the lookout for new “resources”; and we should always be selecting, evaluating, and “experimenting” with them, if we want to fulfil our mission of "21st century teachers”. I see that’s exactly what you have been doing and I just wanted to say “Congratulations”!

Thanks for sharing. I’m looking forward to reading you again.

    Warm hugs to you @ll.

  4. Hi everyone!

So nice to meet you all here. Now, it'll be much easier for me to get in touch cause the computer is an extension of my body nowadays...
Ana, Lídia and Eliz, the Powerpuff girls, every little thing you do is high-quality! Congratulations!!!
I'm eager to learn from you ideas to encourage sts to read. I've been reading a lot about sts's motivation and what I find particularly challenging for us teachers is to select tasks that might contribute to the development of intrinsic motivation; i.e.: getting sts to read not just because they'll be assessed or because they have to fufill a requirement. I guess that if students are not able to establish a meaninful and personal goal to the reading task, no learning can take place. So, maybe, what they need, first and foremost, is consciousness-raising tasks from which they can see, feel, understand the benefits of reading (I do it not because my teacher says it's good to me, but because I understand that I might profit from that). What do you think?

    Lots of love,

    Carol :)

Let's blog

Hi Everyone!

This is our blog. The idea is to use it as a teacher-teacher journal using the platform to interact, to post comments, reactions, reflections, links you find interesting, photos; in short, it will be our exchange meeting spot.

As you can see, this blog will act as an academic tool, and for most teachers, it will replace the lesson observation scheme (LOS) this semester.

So far, you have been encouraged to implement individual projects:

the first one –'Using different stimuli in your lessons, rather than the e-board’ is already over. The next one is ‘My approach to readers'.

I hope that this blog can be a platform from which we can develop and learn from each other. Please, feel free to express yourself freely: my intention was also to add some fun to our teaching life and help you improve your electronic literary.

To get started you should go to the post: ‘My approach to readers”, click on comments and share your project with all of us.

I’ll be delighted to work on-line with you.

Cheers,

AM
